These beautiful Ohio Stoneware crock sets let you get started with fermenting. Fermentation is one of the oldest, easiest, and healthiest ways to preserve and ferment food. Natural, lactic acid fermentation allows vegetables to retain more vitamins and minerals than most other methods. Simply fill the crock with the food you want to ferment, insert the weights to add your brine, and add the lid to help keep surface yeast from forming.

Preserve Foods: Designed for making bountiful batches of sauerkraut, pickles, or preserving other foods.

Protective Cover: Protects food during fermentation as well as any food stored inside the kitchen or pantry.

Semi-circular stones: Easy to insert. Rest on top of food to keep fully submerged in the brine for proper fermentation.

Lead-free, food-safe glaze: The ceramic material with a lead-free, food-safe glaze will not retain the food's flavors and makes clean up easy.

Durable: High temperature-fired for durability. Hand wash and dry completely before storing.

Our American-made stoneware products are crafted by family-owned businesses. Each piece is hand-thrown, so slight variations should be expected and enjoyed. Note: While we make every effort to keep the items in stock, the popularity of these artisan pieces means that occasionally we run out of inventory. Our suppliers may need 3-4 months to craft the items and ship them to us, resulting in similar delays to our customers. If an item is out of stock, please know that we will fill your order as soon as we receive the item from our supplier.

    Top quality made in Ohio
Purchased this three years ago so I could retire my grandmothers redwing vintage crock I had been using for pickles and kraut's. Excellent quality and easy to clean.

    Pretty, but not practical
I bought these to test out for a home based business making artisanal kimchis, sauerkrauts, various pickles, etc. They look sturdy and nice online. In reality, the glazing is uneven and thin in many spots. Very shoddy craftsmanship. Also, the blue logo they put on was horrible. I can tell they spray paint these on because there is blue over-spray. This is under the glaze. So, it looks bad. Most importantly, these crocks are HEAVY. So, if you're planning to be moving them around or doing frequent batches where you need to wash them etc. it will get old fast. The 4 gal crock weighs 23 lb. empty. 4 gallons of pure water weighs about 33 lbs. So, moving a full crock is about 56 lbs. I am glad I didn't get the 5 gallon model! Also, when these are wet, there are no handles or places to grab that have traction. The glaze makes them SUPER slippery. All in all, these are now very EXPENSIVE, decorative cookie jar and utensil caddy in my kitchen. I have instead bought a bunch of white, 5 gallon NON-BPA plastic buckets with lids do do my batches. They weigh less, have a handle, and cost much MUCH less.If you are looking for form over function, these are for you. If you are practical, then probably not the best choice.
