Easily pound and compact cabbage and other vegetables into crocks and canning jars with our extra‑long 13" wooden cabbage stomper. It’s the tool home fermenters reach for when they want to remove air and draw out liquid, helping vegetables release more brine and pack tightly for a clean, consistent ferment.

The length gives you the reach you need for large pots while still storing comfortably in your kitchen. Each end is shaped to fit perfectly in both wide‑mouth and regular‑mouth mason jars, so whether you’re making pint jars of pickles or half‑gallon batches of kraut, you’ll get a snug, even pack every time. This simple, reliable tool with its ergonomic design makes it easy to hold while pounding cabbage or mixing vegetables, giving you steady pressure without strain.

  • Care Instructions: Hand wash with warm soap and water only. Occasional oiling will help to protect and condition the wood. Not dishwasher safe and should never be soaked for extended periods of time as it may damage the stomper.

Dr. Brigid McCrea

Educational, Extension Specialist, Chicken Whisperer

Dr. Brigid McCrea is an Extension Specialist at Auburn University working with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. Her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Avian Science are from the University of California at Davis, and Ph.D. in Poultry Science is from Auburn University. She specializes in small flocks; niche market poultry products; and both pre– and post-harvest food safety. She is also the co-author of “The Chicken Whisperer’s Guide to Keeping Chickens,” “Chicken Fact or Chicken Poop,” and “Chicken Whisperer’s Guide to Zero Waste Chicken Keeping.”
