We have not tried probiotic yogurt with this product. All temperatures are preset, and 104 degrees is the lowest temperature. Mary BThat is correct the base cannot be immersed in water. The only recommended method to clean is to wipe the base with clean damp towel.

The manufacturer has finished the testing and the jars are lead and cadmium free
and are FDA approved for food use.
It has multiple pre-set temperatures with the lowest being 103 degrees.
Kevin SI suppose that would depend on your goals. I often use kefir instead of starter, and it works just fine.
