Rooted in Community: Supporting Homestead Education One Event at a Time
At Roots & Harvest, we believe in more than just supplying tools for your homestead kitchen—we believe in growing community. Whether you're canning up a harvest, churning your own butter, processing poultry, or teaching others how to make sourdough from scratch, we're proud to be part of the movement that keeps homesteading skills alive and thriving.
That’s why we make it a priority to support homestead education events across the country. From workshops and field days to hands-on classes and festivals, we’re showing up where homesteaders gather—often with products in hand. Whether it’s a small local class or a large-scale homesteading conference, we’re proud to support the people who are teaching others how to live simply, eat well, and build self-reliant lives from the ground up.
Whenever possible, we sponsor events by sending products to be used in live demos. We love when people get the chance to roll up their sleeves, try something new, and realize just how empowering self-sufficient living can be.
Roots & Harvest proudly sponsored the inaugural Homestead Freedom Festival, held June 20–21, 2025, at Southfork Homestead in Paris, Illinois. Our poultry processing equipment was featured in a live chicken processing demo led by Joel Salatin of Polyface Farm. We’re honored to support this first-year event and contribute to a growing hub of homestead learning and inspiration.
Mike Wilson, owner of Southfork Homestead and a dedicated homesteader and educator, welcomed us to showcase our poultry processing setup at his ranch—not just for the festival, but for the months to follow. With hundreds of visitors each year and a general store on-site, Southfork offers a hands-on way to connect with the homesteading community.
If you visit Southfork Homestead, be sure to check out the Roots & Harvest display in the store—visitors receive 20% off all Roots & Harvest poultry processing products.
