This 18" long-handled spoon is a must-have for any home canner or cook. Its extra-long handle keeps your hands safe when stirring jams, jellies, or sauces in your tallest stockpots. Made from natural birchwood, this spoon stays cool to the touch—even when left in hot liquids—and won’t scratch non-stick surfaces. Unlike metal spoons, it’s non-reactive, so it won’t alter the taste or color of acidic foods like tomato sauce or lemon curd. Durable, practical, and easy to clean, this spoon is built for everyday use in a busy kitchen.

  • Care Instructions: Hand wash with mild soap and hot water. Rinse, towel dry, and let air dry completely. Occasionally apply food-grade mineral oil or beeswax conditioner to keep the wood from drying or cracking.

Dr. Brigid McCrea

Educational, Extension Specialist, Chicken Whisperer

Dr. Brigid McCrea is an Extension Specialist at Auburn University working with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. Her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Avian Science are from the University of California at Davis, and Ph.D. in Poultry Science is from Auburn University. She specializes in small flocks; niche market poultry products; and both pre– and post-harvest food safety. She is also the co-author of “The Chicken Whisperer’s Guide to Keeping Chickens,” “Chicken Fact or Chicken Poop,” and “Chicken Whisperer’s Guide to Zero Waste Chicken Keeping.”
