This strainer and pestle set makes it easy to create smooth, seed-free purees and perfectly strained liquids. The heavy wooden pestle fits snugly into the conical strainer for efficient extraction, while the fine mesh keeps pulp, skins, and seeds out of your finished product. Use the chromed-steel stand to rest the chinois securely on bowls from 4 to 10 quarts, or hang it by the sturdy handle and hook. Ideal for making jams, sauces, baby food, or silky stocks and broths—an essential tool for any homestead kitchen.

Dr. Brigid McCrea

Educational, Extension Specialist, Chicken Whisperer

Dr. Brigid McCrea is an Extension Specialist at Auburn University working with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. Her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Avian Science are from the University of California at Davis, and Ph.D. in Poultry Science is from Auburn University. She specializes in small flocks; niche market poultry products; and both pre– and post-harvest food safety. She is also the co-author of “The Chicken Whisperer’s Guide to Keeping Chickens,” “Chicken Fact or Chicken Poop,” and “Chicken Whisperer’s Guide to Zero Waste Chicken Keeping.”
